Symptoms
- E12 on display; pedal assist does not engage; throttle still works; PAS level display may show dashes; motor only responds to throttle
Common Causes
- PAS sensor ring on bottom bracket misaligned
- PAS sensor magnet ring cracked or shifted
- PAS wire damaged from bottom bracket area
- Sensor gap too large (>3mm) between ring and pickup
- Mud or debris blocking PAS sensor
- Sensor connector loose at controller
Fix Steps
Step 1: 1. Check the PAS sensor ring around the bottom bracket — it should be secure and not spinning freely
Step 2: 2. Look for cracks in the magnet ring — Lectric PAS rings are plastic and can crack from impact
Step 3: 3. Clean any mud from between the sensor ring and the pickup
Step 4: 4. Gap between ring and sensor should be 1-2mm — adjust if wider
Step 5: 5. Check the PAS wire routing from bottom bracket to controller for damage
Step 6: 6. Unplug and replug the PAS connector at the controller
Step 7: 7. Replacement PAS sensor ring: ~$12-18 from Lectric or Amazon
