Error E10 on your Aventon indicates: Brake sensor engaged — brake cutoff switch stuck or misaligned.
Check soon — motor disabled by brake sensor — Brake sensor engaged — brake cutoff switch stuck or misaligned
Symptoms
- E10 on display; throttle and pedal assist disabled; bike won't provide any motor power; brakes may feel normal but sensor thinks brakes are applied
Common Causes
- Brake lever not returning fully to resting position
- Brake sensor magnet shifted out of alignment on lever
- Brake sensor wire damaged or pinched
- Sensor stuck after crash or impact
- Brake pads worn causing lever to travel too far
Fix Steps
Step 1: 1. Squeeze and release both brake levers firmly several times
Step 2: 2. Check each brake lever returns to its full resting position — sticky lever keeps sensor triggered
Step 3: 3. Look for the small magnet on the brake lever — it should align with the sensor on the handlebar
Step 4: 4. Unplug one brake sensor at a time and test — identifies which side is faulty
Step 5: 5. If bike works with one sensor unplugged: replace that brake lever sensor
Step 6: 6. Check brake pad wear — worn pads cause lever overtravel which misaligns the sensor
Step 7: 7. Aventon replacement brake levers: ~$25-35 from authorized dealers
