Symptoms

Common Causes
- Torque sensor magnet damaged or displaced from crank axle
- Sensor wiring pinched at crank axle exit point
- Corrosion in torque sensor connector
- Sensor calibration drift after years of use
- Impact on crank arm damaging sensor mechanism
Fix Steps
Step 1: 1. Power off bike and remove battery
Step 2: 2. Check crank axle area for visible damage — torque sensor is inside the axle
Step 3: 3. Unplug and replug the torque sensor connector (usually near motor housing)
Step 4: 4. Check sensor wiring for pinch marks or cuts — common failure point
Step 5: 5. If no visible damage: perform torque sensor recalibration at Yamaha dealer (~$50 diagnostic)
Step 6: 6. Yamaha torque sensors are sealed units — cannot repair, only replace (~$180-250)
Step 7: 7. Temporary workaround: use throttle only if equipped, until sensor is fixed
