Shimano STePS E7000/E6100/E8000 — Error Code E010
Error E010 on your Shimano indicates: Battery voltage abnormal — voltage outside safe operating range (below 30V or above 54V).
Stop — battery voltage unsafe — Battery voltage abnormal — voltage outside safe operating range (below 30V or above 54V)
Symptoms
- E010 on display; motor cuts power immediately; battery LED flashes red; may happen during heavy load or after charging
Common Causes
- Battery cells degraded — voltage sag under load exceeds 15%
- Battery stored at full charge for months causing cell imbalance
- Faulty BMS not regulating voltage correctly
- Cold weather below -5°C causing temporary voltage drop
- Charger over-voltage fault damaged cells
Fix Steps
Step 1: 1. Check battery voltage with multimeter at rest — should be 41-54V for 48V system
Step 2: 2. If voltage below 38V: charge battery to 100% and let rest 30 minutes before measuring again
Step 3: 3. If voltage OK but drops below 35V under load: cells are degraded — battery replacement needed
Step 4: 4. In cold weather (<5°C): let battery warm to room temperature before riding
Step 5: 5. If charger shows >54V output: stop using that charger — it's overcharging
Step 6: 6. Shimano batteries under warranty (2 years) can be replaced at authorized dealer
Step 7: 7. Field test: ride at PAS 1 for 5 min — if error only occurs at PAS 5+, voltage sag is the cause
Always disconnect the battery before inspecting wiring.
